# iPhone guides for Canadian ID: scan, lock and watermark passport and licence copies

Canadian forms want files in a particular shape: an IRCC upload field has its own limits, and a landlord should get a copy that cannot be reused. These guides use the iPhone’s own apps to make those files and keep them private.

To make the file, [scan your passport or driver’s licence with the built-in scanner](https://dokus.app/en-ca/scan-id-on-iphone/), prepared the way IRCC upload fields expect it. To keep it, [compare the Hidden album, locked notes and app lock](https://dokus.app/en-ca/store-documents-on-iphone/) by who can open each one. To send it, [watermark the copy so it names the landlord, employer or agent it is for](https://dokus.app/en-ca/watermark-photos-on-iphone/).

As for the documents themselves, [Apple Wallet does not take Canadian passports or provincial licences](https://dokus.app/en-ca/add-passport-id-to-apple-wallet/), so see what provinces offer instead, and [what a PDF of your driver’s licence can and can’t be](https://dokus.app/en-ca/save-digital-drivers-license-iphone/), including when Ontario’s driver record is the document you actually need.

## [How to scan and protect documents on iPhone: a Canadian passport or driver’s licence](https://dokus.app/en-ca/scan-id-on-iphone/)

Scan a passport information page or a licence with the iPhone’s built-in scanner, prepare the file the way IRCC upload fields expect it, then keep the copy locked.
