Open the passport identity page or the requested sides of your driver licence. 2. Replace the full default text with the agency and property reference. For example: “Kowhai Property, tenancy check, 12 Sample Road”. The agency and address are fictional; use the real details. The tool adds today’s date automatically. 3. Adjust Intensity so the purpose remains visible without covering information needed for the identity check. 4. Download and inspect all pages and sides before sending the saved file. A watermark makes the intended recipient visible. It cannot guarantee prevention of copying, removal or identity fraud. ## Ask about retention as well as the copy The Privacy Commissioner's rental guidance says images supplied online or by email should be securely disposed of after identity verification. Ask the property manager about their collection and deletion process. The purpose wording above is a practical example, not an official tenancy form or mandatory New Zealand phrase. If showing the original in person is sufficient, discuss that option first. Selectable text, digital signatures and interactive fields are not preserved.
