# Change your NRIC address in Singapore: PIN, sticker and family applications

Singapore citizens and permanent residents who hold an identity card must report a residential address change within 28 days of moving, including moves overseas. Use ICA's official change of address service; saving a new address or card copy in a document app does not update ICA's records.

Open [ICA's residential address change page](https://www.ica.gov.sg/documents/ic/update_residential_address) and follow its link to the e-Service. This guide covers NRIC holders, rather than the separate rules for employment or immigration passes.

## Choose the right application

| Your situation | Route to follow |
|---|---|
| You are updating only your own address | Individual application |
| You and others are moving to the same address | Consider a group application and arrange each person's consent |
| Your replacement or re-registration application includes a new address | Complete that application's PIN verification before ICA processes the card |
| You cannot use the online service | Request assistance through ICA's official channels |

Before starting, write down the new postal address carefully, including the unit number and postal code. Compare it with your move records. A consistent address makes it easier to spot a typing error before submission.

Keep your updated NRIC reference copy and application acknowledgements organised in Dokus on your iPhone. 4.8 out of 5 stars [Free on the App Store](https://apps.apple.com/sg/app/dokus-private-id-wallet/id6781915709)

## Complete the online and postal stages

The [ICA procedure](https://www.ica.gov.sg/documents/ic/update_residential_address) has separate submission, verification and card-update stages:

1. Sign in with Singpass and submit the address change.
2. Receive the PIN mailer at your new address and verify the PIN in the e-Service.
3. Receive the address sticker and affix it to the back of your IC as instructed.

There is no registration fee. If you have a replacement or re-registration application in progress, successful PIN verification leads to a new card bearing the address instead of a sticker.

Keep a short task record with the submission date, application reference and next action. Use a status such as “PIN verification pending” rather than “done” immediately after submitting. Put incoming letters somewhere you will check during unpacking, separately from old mail and another household member's application.

## Coordinate a household move

The [ICA group application guidance](https://www.ica.gov.sg/news-and-publications/newsroom/media-release/new-feature-in-electronic-change-of-address-service-from-15-august-2025) allows a main applicant to include up to four sub-applicants moving to the same address. The main applicant must also change their own address and complete Singpass Face Verification. Each sub-applicant must log in with their own Singpass to consent within five days; the main applicant can check consent status on the dashboard. A person who misses consent does not have their address updated through that application.

Agree who will coordinate the application before starting. Keep one line per person in your moving checklist so that one person's completed step does not stand for the whole household. Each person should handle their own authentication: do not collect passwords, one-time codes or face-verification material in a shared note or document wallet.

If Singpass access or face verification prevents an application, ICA points to FormSG from the service landing page and assistance at ServiceSG Centres or the ICA Services Centre. Start from the official page to find the appropriate route.

## Follow up on missing post

[ICA's missing-mail guidance](https://ask.gov.sg/ica/questions/clvvpo7u60031kx4gqjeh3g18?from=globalrelatedquestions) says that, for local addresses, you can request another PIN or sticker after seven days through “Enquire Application Status”. Requesting a new PIN invalidates the original. Overseas delivery can take longer.

Record a replacement request's date alongside the original application reference. If an older letter arrives later, check which request it belongs to before acting.

## Close the moving checklist

- The submitted address matches your intended residence.
- Each person's application has its own recorded status.
- You checked the official dashboard for outstanding steps.
- Any replacement mail request is recorded.
- Your retained card copy reflects the card you now hold.
- Old copies are clearly identified before you attach anything to another application.

When the physical card is updated, you can keep a readable personal copy in Dokus. It does not submit or verify an ICA change. Keep authentication details out of your stored copies. For a later form, review its [Myinfo sharing request](https://dokus.app/en-sg/singapore-myinfo-sharing-document-copies/) before sending extra scans. If the card itself is missing, use the separate [lost NRIC replacement guide](https://dokus.app/en-sg/singapore-lost-nric-replacement/).

## Questions about changing your NRIC address

### Can I change someone else's address without changing mine?

The group route requires the main applicant to change their own address to the same residence. Each sub-applicant must also consent through their own Singpass.

### Does saving a new card scan update ICA?

No. A personal copy is a reference record. Complete the official application and follow the status and verification instructions in ICA's service.

### What happens if the original PIN arrives after I request another?

ICA says that requesting a new PIN makes the original invalid. Keep track of the replacement request and use the current application instructions.
