Dokus Plus is optional. It adds unlimited documents, reminders before a document expires and copies without the Dokus banner, by the month, by the year or with one lifetime purchase. Reviewed on October 20, 2026 ## Free and Dokus Plus side by side | What you get | Dokus Free | Dokus Plus | |---|---|---| | Documents | Up to 5 | Unlimited | | Scanner, Face ID and Touch ID lock, offline access | Included | Included | | iCloud sync across your own devices | Included | Included | | Watermark, hidden areas, compression and PDF conversion | Included | Included | | Expiry dates on your documents | Included | Included | | Reminders before a document expires | Not included | Included | | Copies without the Dokus banner | Not included | Included | ## What is free The free version is the whole wallet, not a trial, and it needs no account: - **Keep your documents.** Scan paper with the built-in scanner, which crops each page to its edges, or bring in the photos and PDFs you already have. - **Protect them.** Face ID or Touch ID locks the app, your documents are encrypted on your device, and screenshot protection hides them from screenshots. - **Open them anywhere.** Your documents live on your device and open without a connection, whether iCloud sync is on or off. - **Sync and back up.** Turn on iCloud sync and your documents are kept in your own iCloud and appear on your iPhone, iPad and Mac. - **Track expiry dates.** Add the expiry date of any document. - **Share copies.** Every sharing tool is free: the watermark, hiding areas of a copy, removing a PDF's password, compression and conversion between PDF and JPG. Hiding areas and removing a password are on iPhone and iPad. Copies shared from the free version carry a small Dokus banner below the document, never over it. On this site, the [free online tools](https://dokus.app/tools/) watermark, compress, convert and hide details on a copy in your browser, with no account and no upload. ## The document limit On iPhone and iPad, the free version holds up to 5 documents on a new installation. If you installed Dokus before version 2.5, your installation keeps a limit of 9. On the Mac, the free limit is 9. Dokus Plus removes the limit. ## What Dokus Plus adds - **Unlimited documents.** - **Expiry reminders.** A notification before a document expires, and the Expiring page with every date at a glance. - **Copies without the Dokus banner.** With Dokus Plus the banner becomes a setting, on until you turn it off. ## How to buy Dokus Plus Dokus Plus is sold three ways, and all three unlock the same features: - **Monthly:** a subscription that renews every month until you cancel it. - **Yearly:** a subscription that renews every year until you cancel it. - **Lifetime:** a one-time purchase. You pay once, and nothing renews. You buy it in the app, through your Apple Account: Dokus has no account of its own. Dokus Plus is tied to that Apple Account, so buying it on one device unlocks it on your other iPhone, iPad and Mac signed in to the same account. After a reinstall or on a new device, Restore Purchases in the app brings it back without paying again. You can cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple Account settings, under Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and Dokus Plus stays on until the end of the period you already paid for. ## Price Prices are set for each country and can change, so this page lists none. The App Store shows the price in your country, and any introductory offer, before you confirm a purchase. Payment and refunds are handled by Apple. ## Requirements Dokus is free on the App Store for iPhone with iOS 26.0 or later, iPad with iPadOS 26.0 or later, and Mac with macOS 26.0 or later. ## Common questions ### Is Dokus free? Yes. Dokus is free to download, and the free version is the whole wallet with every sharing tool, for up to 5 documents. Dokus Plus is optional. ### Is the watermark a paid feature? No. The watermark, hiding areas of a copy, removing a PDF's password, compression and conversion are free for everyone. On a copy of one document, Dokus Plus changes only the Dokus banner. ### How many documents can I keep for free? Up to 5 on a new installation on iPhone or iPad. Installations from before version 2.5 keep 9, and the free limit on the Mac is 9. Dokus Plus has no limit. ### How much does Dokus Plus cost? It depends on your country and on the plan: monthly, yearly or lifetime. Prices are set for each country and can change, so the App Store shows the current price, and any introductory offer, before you buy. ### Is Dokus Plus a subscription? It can be either. Monthly and yearly are subscriptions you can cancel at any time, and lifetime is a single purchase that never renews. All three unlock the same features. ### Do I pay again on another iPhone, iPad or Mac? No. Dokus Plus is tied to your Apple Account, so it works on your devices signed in to the same account. On a new device or after a reinstall, Restore Purchases in the app brings it back. ### Do my documents open offline? Yes, on both plans. Your documents live on your device and open without a connection, whether iCloud sync is on or off. Dokus is free on the App Store, and Dokus Plus can be added from inside the app at any time.
