TCI work permit: prepare the certified documents
For a Turks and Caicos work permit, identify whether the application is employed, self-employed or freelance and use that category’s official checklist. Most employed applications must be submitted by the employer or an accredited representative, and the filing requires specified certified evidence.
Prepare the official request
- Confirm the permit category and who is authorised to submit the application.
- Read the official category-specific checklist before preparing scans.
- Assemble the required passport bio-data evidence, photographs, police record and health certificate.
- Add proof of lawful status where applicable and the employer or occupation documents listed for the case.
- Check certification and original-document requirements with the filing authority, then retain the submission and payment records.
Keep the right evidence
The government page expressly requires certified documents and notes that applicants of some nationalities may need originals. Ask which requirement applies to each item. An employer’s preliminary review of a scan is a separate step from submitting the certified dossier.
Keep the passport page, police record and health evidence as separately identified documents. Do not apply an optional watermark, remove required fields or replace certification with a file conversion. The authority decides whether the application and supporting evidence are sufficient.
If a recipient accepts a personal working copy, you can reduce an accepted reference scan. The result is an image-based PDF or JPG. It does not preserve selectable PDF text, interactive fields or an original digital signature. Keep this output separate from any original, certified copy or unchanged official file required for submission.
For the employed category’s internal employment review, see Labour Clearance evidence. For the local record request, see Certificate of Character.
Questions
Can every employee file the application personally?
The government page says employed applications go through the employer or an accredited representative; it treats self-employed and freelance routes separately.
Does a PDF scan count as a certified document?
No. Conversion alone does not supply the certification or original evidence required by the authority.
Should I redact the official passport attachment?
Keep required filing evidence intact. Only prepare a reduced reference copy if a separate recipient expressly agrees.
