Agree what the employer or permit agent needs for the initial review. Cover only unnecessary extra fields on an accepted passport or police-record reference copy, then inspect every saved page.
Confirm whether a pre-check copy is needed
The government work-permit and Labour Clearance pages do not confirm that an employer or agent requests or accepts a watermarked or redacted pre-check copy. Start with the question without an identity attachment. Make a separate altered reference copy only after the recipient explicitly requests it and accepts the changes. Certified filing evidence and any required originals remain separate.
Agree a limited reference review
TCI’s permit process calls for certified supporting evidence. A redacted reference scan is appropriate only for a separate employer or agent review that explicitly accepts the edits.
How to redact a passport or police-record reference scan
- Ask what the permit representative needs to review and which fields, if any, can be omitted.
- Open the reference scan, select Blur and cover only those agreed unnecessary fields.
- Keep the record’s outcome, seals, dates, certification wording and information needed for the review visible. Check every page and repeated identifier.
- Download and inspect the saved copy. Keep complete official evidence unchanged for the actual application.
Do not alter the substance of a police check
Redaction should reduce unnecessary disclosure in an agreed reference review. It must not conceal convictions, change a record’s apparent outcome or hide facts relevant to the requested assessment.
The tool replaces original pixels inside each selected region in the exported image. It does not remove repeated data elsewhere. Check the reverse, other pages, machine-readable lines and codes before sharing.
An employer’s acceptance of a limited pre-check copy does not imply that the Work Permit Board accepts it for filing. Follow the complete certified-document requirements for that separate step.
Check the saved copy
Choose JPG, PNG, supported HEIC or PDF up to 25 MB. Only the first ten pages of an input PDF are processed. Download JPG or an image-based PDF; selectable text, fillable fields and digital signatures are not preserved. Keep any original signed or fillable file.
The document is processed in your browser without an account or document upload. The downloaded copy removes camera metadata and leaves the source unchanged.
Use Photo to PDF for the layout, Compress for an attachment ceiling, Watermark for an agreed purpose label or Hide details for agreed unnecessary fields. Save between tools and inspect the final downloaded file.
Common questions
Can I hide the result of a police check?
Do not conceal its outcome or other information needed for the assessment. Cover only extra fields the reference recipient agrees are unnecessary.
Can a redacted reference scan replace the certified filing copy?
No. Keep the complete certified or original documents required for the actual application.
Can a covered detail remain visible somewhere else?
Yes. Check the reverse, other pages, repeated numbers, barcodes and machine-readable lines. The tool replaces only the pixels inside the regions you select.
Can I blur a field on the agent’s reference PDF?
Cover only what the representative agrees is unnecessary for the limited review. Blur replaces the selected pixels with paper-like texture, rather than softening the original text. It must not remove the substance of the police check or replace complete filing evidence.
