Bahamian driving licence renewal: MyGateway route

MyGateway offers driving licence renewal to Bahamian citizens or legal residents aged 18 or older applying for themselves. Choose renewal for an expiring licence and replacement for a missing or damaged card; they are separate Road Traffic services.

Prepare the official request

  1. Check the licence number and expiry date on your current card.
  2. Open Driver’s Licence Renewal under MyGateway’s Road Traffic Department.
  3. Verify that you meet the published self-application conditions.
  4. Read the live supporting-document checklist, complete the request and choose the available renewal term.
  5. Save the confirmation, receipt and instructions for receiving the renewed licence.

Keep the right evidence

A missing card and an expired entitlement are different problems. Tell Road Traffic if both apply rather than assuming a duplicate will extend the expiry date. The same page separately lists learner’s permit renewal, which should not be selected for a full driving licence.

Keep the old card and receipts available until you receive the department’s instructions. A scan on your phone is useful for checking the number, but it does not by itself prove renewed driving entitlement.

If a recipient accepts a personal working copy, you can reduce an accepted reference scan. The result is an image-based PDF or JPG. It does not preserve selectable PDF text, interactive fields or an original digital signature. Keep this output separate from any original, certified copy or unchanged official file required for submission.

Who is eligible for the online self-request?

Is replacement the same as renewal?

No. MyGateway lists them as separate services. Confirm the correct request if the card is missing and also expiring.

Can a phone scan prove renewal?

A personal scan does not replace the department’s issued licence or confirmation of entitlement.

My documents used to be all scattered through my gallery, I managed to organize them all. I personally like the watermark feature… I used it a lot while traveling, it makes sharing IDs much safer… it stamps a copy with the name of the company you are sharing with (say, an AirBnb or a car rental). It’s still a bit rough around the edges but it’s a new app and the dev seems to be working on it. Price is alright given it’s a one time payment.. one less subscription!
