Can you add a UK passport or driving licence to Apple Wallet?

Apple’s ID in Wallet list does not include UK passports or driving licences as of 10 October 2026. GOV.UK Wallet is a separate service: its public page currently offers a digital Veteran Card and says more documents, including driving licences, will follow. Adding a photograph to another app does not enrol a document in either official service.

What you can keep in Apple Wallet

Apple’s ID in Wallet list does not include UK passports or driving licences as of 10 October 2026. GOV.UK Wallet is a separate service: its public page currently offers a digital Veteran Card and says more documents, including driving licences, will follow. Adding a photograph to another app does not enrol a document in either official service.

Apple Wallet can hold supported payment cards, tickets and passes. An identity credential is different: the issuer and Apple must support enrolment and a verifier must accept its presentation. A generic pass made from a photo is not an official identity document.

Use the issuer’s service for official checks

GOV.UK Wallet is a government service, separate from Apple Wallet. Its public page currently offers the digital HM Armed Forces Veteran Card through GOV.UK One Login and describes driving licences as a future addition. Check the live government page before relying on a digital licence. A scan of a photocard is not a DVLA-issued digital credential or an official driving record.

Keep your physical passport for international travel. A document copy on your phone can help you check details or prepare a submission, but it does not replace the passport at the border.

A protected copy still has a purpose

Your UK passport, driving licence and GHIC may be useful as reference copies. Keep only what you need, under clear names, and protect the app containing them. Scan the document on iPhone and read how to lock saved copies.

When a recipient accepts a scan, use the photo to PDF converter for a A4 layout or the watermark tool for a copy marked with its intended use. Check the recipient’s instructions before changing it.

Where Dokus fits

Dokus stores your own document copies encrypted on your devices, behind Face ID or Touch ID. It works offline and can share a watermarked PDF or JPG. Optional iCloud sync uses your Apple Account. It does not enrol or verify an official digital ID, and does not change where a credential is accepted.

Common questions

Can I add my UK passport to Apple Wallet?

Apple’s ID in Wallet list does not support UK passports as of 10 October 2026. Keep the physical passport for travel and check Apple’s live availability page for changes.

Can a photo of my driving licence become a Wallet ID?

No. A photograph or generic pass is not the issuer’s verified credential. Follow the authority’s official service and check which verifiers accept it.

Does Dokus replace the government’s digital ID service?

No. Dokus protects copies for reference and sharing. Official credentials use the issuer’s enrolment and verification process.
