Singapore IRAS Notice of Assessment: download the right tax bill

Retrieve an issued IRAS Notice of Assessment through myTax Portal under Inbox, View Notices, Individual. Check the Year of Assessment and notice type before downloading the original PDF; a filing acknowledgement or statement of account serves a different purpose.

An application asking for your latest NOA needs a particular document. Start with its exact wording: which Year of Assessment (YA), whose record and whether it needs the full notice. The date you download a file does not change the assessment year printed inside it.

IRAS's digital services directory distinguishes tax notices from account summaries, which show payment status and outstanding tax. A NOA records an assessment; downloading it does not prove that the assessed amount has been paid.

Download your original NOA

IRAS's assessment instructions give the route through the portal. Have your tax reference number, such as NRIC or FIN, and your Singpass or Singpass Foreign user Account available.

  1. Enter myTax Portal from the official IRAS website and authenticate.
  2. Open Inbox, then View Notices, then Individual.
  3. Use the Search dropdown to find the notice you need. Check the YA and document title against the application requirement.
  4. Tick the checkbox for that specific notice and choose Download Selected. Avoid selecting every notice on the page when only one is required.
  5. Open the downloaded file and inspect every page before storing or attaching it.

The current IRAS notices FAQ, published on 19 February 2025, explains the search and download controls. PDF notices open in a separate tab, so check that tab if the document appears absent. The portal does not offer onward forwarding to another party: download the selected file first, then use the recipient's accepted submission channel.

If the required year is missing

The service directory lists notices for the current year and four back years. For a bill outside the available records, IRAS allows requests through Live Chat for up to seven back years, subject to availability. Search and document fees apply. Use the contact link on the assessment page to establish what IRAS can supply before relying on an older copy for a deadline.

A missing file does not always mean a lost bill. IRAS's 2026 tax-bill guidance explains that some people receive no bill when they have no filing notification and their income is below the declaration threshold. If no NOA has been issued, ask the recipient which alternative income evidence it accepts. IRAS lists possibilities such as employer payslips or Form IR8A/IR8E; acceptance remains the recipient's decision.

Keep the source separate from submission copies

Save the issuer PDF unchanged. Label its stored entry with the YA and notice date, then reopen it to confirm that all pages are readable. A screenshot captures only the visible area and makes checking a multi-page notice harder.

If a recipient permits a shortened or redacted copy, create it separately and retain the source. Verify the final attachment rather than assuming the file name identifies the right year. Where an application retrieves information through Singpass, read the Singapore Myinfo sharing guide before adding a separate upload.

  • The recipient's requested YA is confirmed.
  • The selected record is a NOA, account statement or filing record as required.
  • The holder, year, notice date and complete pages have been checked.
  • The original PDF is retained separately from edited copies.
  • The final attachment opens and the submission acknowledgement is saved.

Dokus stores personal copies on your iPhone. It does not retrieve notices from IRAS or connect to myTax Portal.

IRAS Notice of Assessment questions

Is my filing acknowledgement a Notice of Assessment?

No. It records your filing. Ask the recipient whether it accepts that record while the requested assessment is unavailable.

Can I download someone else's notice using my own login?

Use the official access arrangements appropriate to that person. Do not exchange Singpass credentials to obtain a document.

Does keeping the PDF in Dokus update it when IRAS revises my bill?

No. A stored copy remains the file you saved. Retrieve and check any revised notice through IRAS, then label the newer copy clearly.

My documents used to be all scattered through my gallery, I managed to organize them all. I personally like the watermark feature… I used it a lot while traveling, it makes sharing IDs much safer… it stamps a copy with the name of the company you are sharing with (say, an AirBnb or a car rental). It’s still a bit rough around the edges but it’s a new app and the dev seems to be working on it. Price is alright given it’s a one time payment.. one less subscription!
