Choose IRP card and add the reverse when requested, then download one A4 PDF. Use Passport for its identity page. Prepare the document the letting agent needs when a tenancy is being agreed, rather than sending photo ID with every viewing enquiry.
Prepare a copy when a tenancy is being agreed
The Data Protection Commission distinguishes an initial rental enquiry from the stage of entering a tenancy. Its guidance questions collecting photo ID, financial statements and PPSNs from everyone applying to view. Ask why the letting agent needs the attachment at this stage and what evidence is necessary before preparing a copy.
The tasks below are for the eventual tenant's agreed document sharing. A copy does not establish immigration permission, certify an original or make an excessive information request appropriate.
Make a PDF from an IRP card photo
- Choose the front of your Irish Residence Permit (IRP). Add the back if the letting agent asks for it; use the arrows to swap sides if needed.
- Choose IRP card under Document. A table photo is cropped automatically; use Adjust to keep the whole card visible.
- Keep Front and back on one sheet for a recipient who wants both sides together. Otherwise, use one page per side.
- Select PDF, download and reopen the file. Check names, numbers and expiry dates at normal reading size.
For a passport, select Passport and use the full biometric page. Do not crop off the lower machine-readable lines. Choose Document for an A4 letter or supporting certificate.
Keep the requested documents separate
This tool handles one document with an optional back. It can put both sides of the IRP on one sheet; it does not combine an IRP, passport and payslip into an application bundle. Do not send additional documents simply because a preset is available.
A4 and real-size copies
A4 is the starting paper here. A card uses the standard card-size layout; a passport uses the passport-page layout. Print at Actual Size for a 100% copy. Enlargement is available if specifically requested, but there is no general Irish requirement to enlarge identity copies to 150%.
If the attachment exceeds the letting agent’s size limit, use Compress. For sharing with an organisation that accepts a marked reference copy, use Watermark after conversion.
Keep a readable original
Inputs can be JPG, PNG, supported HEIC or PDF up to 25 MB. Only the first ten pages of a PDF are processed.
The downloaded PDF contains an image of each page. Selectable text, interactive fields and digital signatures are not preserved. Keep an original signed PDF or a fillable form outside this workflow.
Photos and scans are processed in your browser, with camera metadata removed from the export. The source stays unchanged. This is document-copy preparation, not passport-photo production or official identity verification.
Common questions
Can I put both sides of my IRP on one PDF page?
Yes. Add the back and keep Front and back on one sheet. Use that layout only when the recipient accepts both sides together.
Should I send both a passport and IRP to every letting agent?
Ask which identity evidence is necessary at the tenancy-agreement stage. The converter prepares one document and its reverse, not a required bundle.
Is the PDF a certified copy?
No. Conversion creates a scan copy and does not add certification, verify identity or renew immigration permission.
