Open the two-sided Maltese ID or eResidence scan and choose a Maximum size within the live form’s limit. Inspect the complete front and back after downloading. The 1 MB and 500 KB presets are editing choices, not a national Identità rule.
Prepare the card evidence for Exempt Person Status
Identità’s Exempt Person checklist asks for both sides of residence and Maltese ID cards in relevant cases. Use your own category’s checklist to decide whose cards are required. This tool prepares one card with its reverse at a time, rather than combining several people’s documents.
For a required full-passport submission, use a workflow that preserves every required page: only the first ten input PDF pages are processed here.
Reduce a card copy for the portal’s limit
- Choose the Maltese ID or eResidence card scan and add the reverse side when it is requested.
- Crop to the card’s edges and straighten the writing. A large table or background can waste the file budget.
- Set Maximum size to the form’s ceiling or a smaller available step. Choose JPG or PDF as instructed.
- Download and open the result. Check the number, expiry, reverse-side conditions and small print before uploading.
Compression lowers image quality and then resolution. If the target is not achievable, the tool shows the smallest result reached. Choose a larger permitted target or capture a clearer source rather than omitting required information. Here 1 MB means 1,000,000 bytes.
The checklist decides the document and all its pages
For relevant Exempt Person applications, Identità asks for both sides of a residence card and the Maltese national’s ID. Keep the complete requested sides after compression. There is no national file-size requirement established by the 1 MB preset on this page; read the live portal and your own checklist.
Identità’s Single Permit checklist requires the whole passport in PDF, including blank pages, and presentation of the original. This tool only uses the first ten pages of an input PDF. Do not run a longer full-passport submission through it: the saved copy would be incomplete. Keep every page required by your own checklist.
If the recipient only asks for a passport identity-page scan, it can be compressed like another short document. A complete passport, signed official PDF or interactive application form should stay in its appropriate original workflow.
Prepare the copy in the right order
Use Photo to PDF when the task is to combine two card photos first. A watermark or redaction is appropriate only for a recipient who accepts the alteration; shrinking a file does not make an altered official submission acceptable.
Choose JPG, PNG, HEIC or PDF up to 25 MB. HEIC depends on browser support; choosing a photo from the iPhone library can provide JPG. Only the first ten pages of an input PDF are used. The output is JPG or an image-based PDF: selectable text, form fields and digital signatures are not preserved. Keep the original when those features matter.
Processing stays in your browser, with no document upload or account. The downloaded copy removes camera metadata and leaves your chosen source unchanged.
Common questions
Is 1 MB the limit for an Exempt Person attachment?
No universal limit is claimed here. Read the live form and choose a suitable available target. Keep every required card side and inspect the saved result.
Can I compress an eResidence PDF to 500 KB or 1 MB?
Choose that maximum and inspect the saved copy. The tool reports if it cannot reach the target; readable required details matter more than the smallest possible file.
Does Identità always require a 1 MB file?
This page makes no such claim. Use the exact limit and format displayed for your application. The presets are editing choices.
Can compression drop blank passport pages?
Do not remove them when the checklist requires a full passport. This tool also uses only the first ten pages of a PDF, so it is unsuitable for a longer full-passport submission.
